Aspire to Lead – 2021 Leaders’ Summit | June 18, 19, 25, 26 and 29

2021-06-18 @ 09:00 - 2021-06-29 @ 19:00

Organized by the Action Chinese Canadians Together (ACCT) Foundation (www.acctfoundation.ca), this summit is a series of Canada-wide virtual gatherings for aspiring, emerging and established Chinese Canadian Leaders. The intended outcome for the 2021 summit are:
  • Deep and Impactful Conversations – focused deliberations on systemic barriers and underrepresentation of Chinese Canadians in decision making bodies
  • Empowering Changemakers – equipping and giving agency to aspiring and emerging leaders of all ages and backgrounds
  • Paving a Path Forward – the creation of a collaborative action plan with measurable outcomes that will guide our efforts from 2021 to 2025

The summit will be structured around four topics presented over four – three hour sessions. Each session begins with a presentation of a commissioned paper, followed by a panel discussion from established Chinese Canadian leaders. The discussion then continues amongst the attendees in breakout rooms. Several networking opportunities have been built into each session. The four topics are:

  • Topic 1: What is Chinese Canadian history and how does it contribute to contemporary issues? Commissioned paper by Dr. Henry Yu, Department of History, UBC. This session will take place on Friday, June 18 from 11:00 to 14:00 ET
  • Topic 2:  What are the leadership needs and issues for younger Chinese Canadians? Commissioned paper by Tesicca Truong, award-winning climate change, housing and community engagement strategist and co-founder of CityHive. This session will take place on Saturday, June 19 from 11:00 to 14:00 ET
  • Topic 3: What would Canada look like with fully engaged Chinese Canadians? Commissioned paper by Carol Lee, chair and co-founder of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. This session will take place on Friday, June 25 from 11:00 to 14:00 ET
  • Topic 4: What does a seat at the table mean for Chinese Canadians? Commissione paper by The Honourable Senator Yuen Pau Woo and Tung Chan. This session will take place on Saturday, June 26 from 11:00 to 14:00 ET
This Summit is not just another webinar. We have designed our programming in such a way to provoke and encourage our attendees into a dialogue of the four topics listed above. In addition, we have designed several opportunities for our attendees to network and connect with established leaders like yourself. Your lived experience and insight will be especially valuable to our attendees as they explore each of these issues during the breakout sessions.
I hope you will be able to join us for one or more of these thought provoking sessions.
